The OULS aims to hold two mooting workshops
They are held throughout July and August annually: one serving the North (either Leeds, Manchester or Nottingham) and one serving the South (usually London). In 2019 we introduced a third workshop in the midlands, to enable us to reach more members.
To ensure you are notified of upcoming workshops please subscribe to our newsletter and become a member.
WhO Should attend?
Mooting helps develop research skills, advocacy skills, confidence and critical thinking. It is an important experience for those students who are considering life at the Bar, but also to those considering life as a solicitor (with solicitors now benefitting from much greater rights of audience in court).
Also, if you wish to enter either internal or external mooting competitions with the OULS, it is highly recommended that you attend one of the mooting workshops as it will ensure you have the best possible preparation and guidance.
The workshops also give OULS members the opportunity to meet other like-minded OU Law students at all stages of their degree in a fun and interactive environment.
Who Can attend?
Any member of the OULS can attend the mooting workshops. If you are not a member of the OULS, or if your annual membership has lapsed. please sign up.
How much is it?
The workshops are free to attend, but those wishing to attend must be members of the OULS.
