About the event

The Gary Slapper Memorial Mooting Compeition is held every year by the OULS in honour of Professor Gary Slapper who was a Law professor and the first head of the OU Law School.

It is a great honour to once again hold this competition in his memory.

We invite all PAID members of the OULS to register their interest.

To register your interest please email mooting1@ouls.org by the 21st March 2021 @ 11:59pm GMT.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO EMAIL AND DO NOT CLICK ON THE RSVP AS YOUR INTEREST WILL NOT BE REGISTERED. 

The moot problem and closed bundle for round 1 will be sent to competitors on the 22nd March 2021.

Before registering please take note of the dates below as participants will need to be available on these dates if successful.

The deadline for submission of round 1 Appellant and Respondant skeletons must be sent to the mooting email address above by 6pm on Friday 9th April 2021.

  • 16 Successful mooters will progress to compete in teams, they will be notified on the 11th April
  • They will compete in the Quarter-finals on Sunday 18th April 2021
  • Round 2 - Semi-finals  will take place on Sunday 16th May 2021
  • Round 3 - Grand-Final will be taking place on Sunday 13th June 2021.

For the Semi & Grand final a new moot problem will be circulated nearer the time.

These two rounds will also be judged by external judges to be announced in due course.
