Join the OULS for this insight event with Jane Risley who will share her journey on becoming a Costs Lawyer with Shakespeare Martineau, followed by a Q&A segment.
After graduating from Nottingham Trent University with her law degree in 2018, Jane discovered the world of legal costs - a niche but incredibly important part of the legal system that very few people hear about during their studies.
She qualified as a Costs Lawyer in 2023 and now also sits on the Association of Costs Lawyers Council, as well as the Board of Directors for ACL Training, which oversees the professional Costs Lawyer qualification. With only around 759 practising Costs Lawyers in the country (compared to nearly 177,000 solicitors!), she says this is a specialised profession that deserves more recognition.
