Editor - Election Manifestos

Editor

1. Naomi Wood

My name is Naomi. I am a full time LLB student, about to begin my third year and would like to run for the role of editor.

I feel this role is important in building the law society community further, engaging more members in events and adapting with student voice. I aim to enable the law society’s growth in advertising events and programmes and notifying students of deadlines with regular posts and engagement, growing an online presence that is easily accessible for all members on all platforms.

In my studies, I have received positive feedback on my critical thinking and problem solving. I feel my organised and methodical working will ensure consistency in this role and my personable approach will enable student voice to be heard in the way I would adapt within the role and what students would like to see. Within my previous role in education, I regularly used Facebook and Instagram for key messages to parents and found this to be more engaging than emails. I am passionate about diversity and inclusivity for all and feel further social media presence would support members in seeking support and explore further opportunities. I hope that the new website and regular newsletters would enable members to form more of a community and an important source of key information.

I have a passion for law but also for people, and with the rise of social media, feel that these platforms are vital for Law Society student voice and engagement, not just for likes but for conversation and insight. In my experience, distance learning can be lonely at times so I would like to create engaging posts, build an online presence and community, enable signposting, knowledge and support with a friendly approach.
